Austria | Dornbirn

Jugendornbirn, OJAD

 

Two groups arrived from Dornbirn, twin-town of Kecskemét to the festival in 2006: Jugendornbirn and OJAD, who performed two choreographies in a common show, and they gave a small sample of the traditional Dornbirn-cloths.

2008. We could welcome youth again from Dornbirn, the twin town of Kecskemét. The members of the Public Youth Work Dornbirn (Offene Jugendarbeit Dornbirn, OJAD) performed folksongs and dances from Vorarlberg with great success.

Belgium | Hamont-Achel

Youth Wind Orchestra Kempenbloei

 

The wind orchestra take part regularly in the famous EMJ music festival in Neerpelt, Belgium. Participation and concerts of such orchestras are always a special experience for Kecskemét, because of the musical heritage of the town.

In 2008 the youth drum and fanfare band took part in the festival for the second time. Their performance of high standard was not only presented in Kecskemét, but also in Kiskunfélegyháza, where it was also great success.

Bulgaria | Montana

Severnyatzi folkdance ensemble

 

The children group of the 40 years ago founded folk dance ensemble took part in the children and youth meeting. In their colourful costumes performed their spectacular dances showed the folkdances of North-Western Bulgaria.

2008. It was the second occasion for the "Severnyasti" folkdance group to participate in meeting. The group has given over 1200 performances in Bulgaria and abroad, winning several awards at various national and international festivals. This time they performed folk dances and folk songs from all over Bulgaria.

Czech Republic | Okřišky

Okřešánek folklore group

 

The Czech folklore group presented real traditional plays, they wanted to show how the children enjoyed themselves in the last centuries instead of the television, computer or telephone.

2008. The children coming from a small Czech town presented the lifestyle of an age when television, mobile phones and computers were yet unknown. They sang and danced and told us folk rhymes presenting the Czech folk traditions, songs and dances.
