Csillagszemű Camp

It was in 1993 that the first "Csillagszemű" camp was organised following the idea of Gábor Farkas' late first wife, Andrea. She suggested inviting some kindergarten teachers from over the borders for the time of the children's meeting and organising a series of separate professional programmes for them. The first camp proved to be so successful that it has been regularly organised ever since, having each gathering deal with certain professional questions.

The organisers of the "Csillagszemű" camp are the three Márias: Mrs Mária Láng Nagy working for the Ferenc Erdei Culture Centre, Mrs József Molnár leader of the kindergarten in the Árpád district, and Mária Váczi fellow-worker of the Szórakaténusz Toy Museum and Workshop. In the mornings the participating kindergarten teachers can gain practical experience in the kindergarten of the Árpád district, while in the afternoons at the 'Szórakaténusz' at the handicraft workshops they can learn among others about felting and batik work. (The interesting aspect of the programme is that 'Szórakaténusz' is a unique museum and workshop in Hungary where visitors can get to know the history of toys by viewing an exciting and high standard exhibition. The museum is at the same time an operating workshop since young and old are taught here how to make toys from natural materials.) The College of Kecskemét provides the professional support for designing the programme of the 'Csillagszemű' camp.

Naturally, the kindergarten teachers also take part in the fun in the Puszta — carriage riding and the horseshows as well as the Picnic on Saturday are joyful experiences for them, too.
